Marble Polishing

If you have a marble floor there is going to be a time you are going to need to have marble polishing done to your floor. Marble polishing brings back the original shine to the floor making it look shinny again. Over time the shine on marble floors wear down, it becomes dull looking and doesn’t reflect light like it use to. What needs to be done at this point is the floor needs to be honed using very fine resin diamonds and working out the scratches so that light will reflect off it again. Once the floor is brought up to 800 grit it is then powdered polish to make the floor pop looking brand new.

Colonial floor and stone care has been professionally maintaining marble floors since 1986 and has many marble floor polishing jobs under our belts. Marble is such a terrific floor choice because of the variety of different types of stones and the veins that are in it going it a lot of different textures.

If you are buying an older home and the grout lines are looking dirty and the floor isn’t looking very shinny. Have a marble polisher come in and scrub up those grout line and remove all the build up of cleaning chemicals that have compounded over the years on the floor and have the floor polished so it looks terrific with all the furniture that is going to be placed on it. Also for those that are looking to buy an older home with marble already installed in it. Don’t let the condition of the marble discourage you from buying it. Even the deepest scratches can be fixed or even ground out. Marble floors unfortunately require a lot of maintenance and care and a lot of people avoid doing the preventative maintenance on the floor. I also suggest to people that there should be an entry rug or runner in your house so that the sand can come off on the wool fibers. Taken off the shoes at the door is the best method but that doesn’t seem to be a Florida. I remember while living up in Aspen for years when you came into someone house you would just take your shoes off, it was assumed that everyone would. I guess that had a lot to do with the snow and the mud everywhere.

The bottom line is take care of your floors now and maintaining the floors will be easier and you will also save a lot of money over time.
